We received this email from Lorraine Sims on Feb. 10:

Dear Friends:
I trust this email finds you somehow keeping warm in this very cold arctic, MI weather.
We again want to thank you for your prayers for Jerry as he has been battling cancer for the past 5 years.  On 10-31-13, he had another brain tumor removed and his surgeon removed all visible malignant cells. However, by Christmastime cancer cells rapidly spread throughout his brain, making him no longer a candidate for further treatments.  Two weeks ago he had a heart attack and we now have in our home a wonderful team of Hospice staff lending aid and comfort during Jerry's final days on this earth.
Of course only God knows the dash between for each of our lives, but likely Jerry will soon be received into the arms of his Heavenly
Father, and will hear the words, “well done good and faithful servant."
Love and Prayers to each of you!  We covet your prayers, especially now, as our family is in the process of preparing to say good-bye (for now) to our beloved husband, father, grandfather.
Thank you again for your support and prayers for the family over the past many years.

Blessing to You!  Lorraine Sims and family

Then on Feb. 12 we received the following email from Lorraine:

Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness, that we let you know that Gerald went to be with the Lord yesterday evening, in the comfort of his home. We were by his side when he breathed his last. And we found great comfort that he went peacefully and now truly is in a better place...

The address for Lorraine Sims is 733 Beach Street, Lapeer, MI  48446.  The funeral is today at 3:00 in Lapeer, MI.  An obituary is on the console by the library.
