ANNOUNCEMENTS
Everyone is invited to join in the food and fellowship today at the JYF fundraiser meal.
An update on Pastor Sims – He has completed radiation with minor side effects. He lost his hair but that has not been too traumatic for him! He continues to heal well from the brain surgery. Scans show that the doctors were able to remove the entire tumor and the spot on his lung turned out to be pneumonia and not more cancer! He will start chemotherapy Apr. 2. Please continue to remember him and Lorraine in prayer.
Thurston Woods is hosting a Blood Drive on Apr. 4 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Villa dining room. Appointments are preferred and can be made by calling 651-7841. Your support is appreciated.
Are you interested in a bounty of healthy fruits and vegetables you don’t have to grow? Receive a 10 box “subscription” loaded with produce all summer. Proceeds benefit Lake Area Christian School. For more information, contact Nickie Younts or see the display at the back of the church.
ANNOUNCEMENTS, cont.
If you are interested in volunteering to mow the church yard this summer, please talk to one of the trustees – Glenn, Charlie or Matt.
Anyone (16 years old or older) interested in playing church league softball, meet in the fellowship hall after the worship service this morning.
Remember to bring your staple food supplies for the Salvation Army.
The WMSC April project is food for the food pantry.
Approximately one year ago, the Worship Commission requested that the Sunday school classes be responsible for a monthly fellowship meal or a time to gather for fellowship. This has been easy for some of the classes and more difficult for others. We as a Worship Committee thank each of you for your participation. Prior to circulating a schedule for next year, it would be beneficial to know if any group is planning any special events that would include the entire congregation so that we do not plan too many events in one month. If you are planning such an event, please let Gerri Schwartz or one of the Worship Commission members know in the next week or two.
We are planning a Maundy Thursday service on Apr. 5 at 6:00 PM. This will include a light meal, a short meditation, communion and foot washing.
Our Easter morning service on Apr. 8 will begin with breakfast at 9:15 AM and worship service to follow. For the meal, please bring a breakfast dish to pass. There will be no Sunday school on that morning.
Amigo Centre - Open Gym – 7-9:00 PM on March 29. A $2/ person/night donation is requested.
Our group subscription plan to The Mennonite is renewing. If you are interested in joining the group plan, please contact Beth Miller by April 1. Price per subscription is $39 each for a group of 5 or $37 each for a group of between 6 and 49. Last year we had 7 in our group. Make your check out to Locust Grove and mark it clearly for The Mennonite.
All women are invited to Shore Mennonite for their annual “WMSC Guest Day” on Apr. 10 starting at 8:30 AM. Lunch and childcare are provided. Guest speaker for the 1:00 PM meeting is Janice Troyer.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to a fund to help Bob & Donna Schrock with expenses related to Bob‘s cancer can do so through the offering. Checks should be made payable to Locust Grove, designating “Bob Schrock Fund” on the memo.
